Formats of digital audiobooks available at this site

The following types of materials are available for purchase and download from this website:

• WMA Digital Audiobooks in the OverDrive Media Console™ format
• MP3 Digital Audiobooks in the OverDrive Media Console format

While WMA Digital Audiobooks can only be transferred to portable devices that support DRM-protected WMA files, MP3 Digital Audiobooks can be transferred to many different portable devices including cell phones, PDAs, and most MP3 players. The following devices have tested successfully for use with Digital Audiobooks. Icons are displayed for each device to indicate which type of Digital Audiobook the device supports. Please see the notes at the bottom of this page for important information on supported devices.

iPod Shuffle - special considerations

MP3 Digital Audiobooks should play on the iPod Shuffle, but you must use iTunes to transfer MP3 Digital Audiobook files to the device rather than using the OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard.

  WMA Digital Audiobooks can only be transferred to portable devices that support DRM-protected WMA files encoded at the bit rate of 32kbps.


• MP3 Digital Audiobooks in the OverDrive Media Console format
  MP3 Digital Audiobooks can be transferred to many different portable devices including most cell phones, PDAs, and most MP3 players.

While WMA Digital Audiobooks can only be transferred to portable devices that support DRM-protected WMA files, MP3 Digital Audiobooks can be transferred to many different portable devices including cell phones, PDAs, and most MP3 players. These devices have tested successfully for use with Digital Audiobooks. Icons are displayed for each device to indicate which type of Digital Audiobook the device supports.

We are continually evaluating new devices and updating this list accordingly. If a device is not listed here, it might not have been tested. Please see the list of Incompatible Devices for more information.

Please note that differences in device firmware, the software on which portable devices run, make it possible for two similar devices to have different results in regard to compatibility. Manufacturers will often release firmware updates that may expand or limit device functionality. We recommend checking with manufacturers for the latest information on device firmware and file format support.
